Natural Ways to Boost Your Immune System

Natural Ways to Boost Your Immune System

Strengthen your protection against diseases naturally.

Are you confident that your body’s natural defenses can prevent you from getting sick?

The immune system is a complex network composed  of cells, tissues, and organs. They all work together to identify and eliminate foreign invaders  to the body such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi.

Having a  weak immune system can leave you vulnerable to illness and disease.

Boost your immunity and keep illness at bay with these simple and natural ways:

  1. Take probiotics. Keep in mind that not all bacteria are bad. Probiotics are live bacteria that help maintain a healthy gut. Studies show that these live microorganisms reduce the incidence of respiratory and gastrointestinal infections. You can get this from miso, kimchi, pickles, and fermented milk.
  2. Get enough sunlight. Sunlight causes the production of Vitamin D in the skin, which helps the  immune cells. According to research, vitamin D deficiency is associated with an increased frequency of infections and autoimmune diseases. Keep in mind that you only need 10 to 15 minutes of sun exposure between 10AM and 3PM at least twice a week to supply your skin with sufficient  vitamin D.
  3. Add garlic and ginger to your food. Garlic has antimicrobial and antiviral properties that can power up your immune system. It is proven to lower cholesterol and blood pressure because of its allicin content. Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, which helps protect the cells from damage.
  4. Sleep. Research shows that a lack of sleep lessens the number of T-cells in our body. These T-cells are responsible for searching and destroying the harmful bacteria and viruses in our body.
  5. Drink tea. Instead of getting another cup of coffee, grab a cup of tea instead. Studies show that green tea and chamomile tea improve blood circulation and contain antioxidants that support your immune system. Green tea also boosts heart health and prevents brain cells from damage.
  6. Make it a habit to always wash your hands. Keeping your hands clean is the simplest and best way to prevent yourself from getting sick and spreading germs. According to the US-based Center for Disease Control and Prevention, handwashing is proven to reduce stomach-related illnesses and respiratory infections.
